EuropeOn launches new Sector Report: 2.7 million electrical professionals providing solutions to Europe’s challenges

EuropeOn, the European electrical contractors’ association, has unveiled its 2024 Sector Report, offering key insights into the state of the electrical contracting sector and focusing on the role of electrical contractors in addressing Europe’s most significant challenges. This milestone publication coincides with EuropeOn’s 70th anniversary, underscoring the enduring importance and commitment of electrical contractors to Europe’s progress over the past seven decades, and for the decades to come.

This 2024 Sector Report provides policymakers and stakeholders with valuable data and perspectives on a sector that employs 2.7 million Europeans. As the EU is defining its strategic priorities for the next five years, the report underscores the essential contributions of electrical contractors in shaping a sustainable and competitive future.

Thanks to the valuable contribution of EuropeOn’s members, this Report presents some key figures defining the sector at European level.

The sector employs 2.7 million workers, meaning 1 in 88 active workers across Europe is part of this essential industry. These professionals work in 420,000 businesses, collectively generating an annual turnover exceeding €300 billion. These figures not only highlight the significant economic contribution of the sector, but also its role as a driving force for local employment and growth throughout Europe.

Besides, drawing on information and concrete case studies shared by EuropeOn’s members, the Report showcases how electrical contractors are addressing some of Europe’s most urgent challenges. It highlights the diverse contributions of electrical contractors in areas such as: fighting climate change, enhancing energy security and managing grid congestion, driving digitalisation and industrial competitiveness, tackling the housing crisis, supporting elderly care, or ensuring the safety of electrical installations.

  4. Ensure the upcoming Clean Industrial Deal caters to the needs of the electrical contracting sector.
