EuropeOn represents TEKNIQ at high-level Electrification roundtable with EU policymakers

On 10 June, EuropeOn’s Secretary General Julie Beaufils took part in a high-level roundtable on electrification, representing TEKNIQ. The event was hosted by Member of the European Parliament (MEP) Anna Stürgkh, who is leading an initiative report on grids, in collaboration with SYNERGI, a Danish network of companies working in energy efficiency. Julie Beaufils was representing our Danish members TEKNIQ on this occasion.

The roundtable included four MEPs (Anna Stürgkh from Austria, Séan Kelly from Ireland, Bruno Tobback from Belgium and Thomas Pellerin-Carlin from France), as well as a Commission official, and several SYNERGI-affiliated industry leaders.

The discussion reflected broad support for electrification as a key lever to meet the EU’s climate and energy goals, all the while contributing to EU’s competitiveness and security agenda. During the exchange, Julie Beaufils drew attention to the critical role of electrical contractors in delivering efficient and secure electrification. TEKNIQ recently assessed that 81% of the Danish Parliament’s decarbonisation targets for 2030 depend on our very sector!

In particular, Julie Beaufils highlighted that:

  • Recent calls for simplification efforts must not undermine the regulatory frameworks negotiated by the previous Parliament, which companies have already begun implementing. Businesses need stability and predictability, or they risk losing trust in the EU’s long-term agenda.
  • Electrification goes hand in hand with energy security, as emphasised in TEKNIQ’s new strategic plan.
  • The upcoming Electrification Action Plan (expected early next year) should be comprehensive enough and provide a clear roadmap to accelerate electrification across sectors. While the Fit for 55 package has laid important groundwork, remaining gaps must be addressed in the Action Plan.
  • At a more technical yet significant level: deeply reforming the primary energy factor (PEF) is a key step not to hamper

As Europe moves toward a more electrified and resilient future, supporting skilled professionals and companies at the forefront of the transition is essential for both TEKNIQ and EuropeOn. Thanks to SYNERGI for organising this relevant roundtable uniting policymakers and industry leaders.

In the meantime, TEKNIQ and SYNERGI released a common position paper focused on residential heating. They stress that end-users need clear signals and they propose banning the installation of new and used gas boilers from 2026 in Denmark.
