On 2 December, EuropeOn launches a new report on energy security and preparedness: “The Civilian Side of Energy Security: the electrical contracting sector’s contribution to end-user resilience and preparedness across four crisis scenarios“.
On the occasion of the launch, we’re hosting a networking evening to present the key takeaways and discuss on the role the electrical contracting sector plays in Europe’s resilience and preparedness, over a drink or two.
Behind the meter: the missing piece in Europe’s resilience puzzle
Rising geopolitical tensions, state-sponsored hybrid warfare, cyberattacks, sabotage targeting critical assets and even accidental blackouts have become a persistent feature of today’s reality, challenging the resilience of our infrastructure, companies and administrations.
Recent events, from the Iberian blackout to geopolitical tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, the targeting of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, and the weaponisation of energy supply, have placed energy security at the very top of the European Union’s agenda. The Union has embarked on a reflection on “total defence”: a whole-of-society approach integrating civilian and military capabilities.
In this context, EuropeOn focuses on the relevance of behind-the-meter installations for resilience, and on the role of electrical contractors in preparing for a crisis and in restoring electrical systems during and afterwards. This new report reflects on the resilience of the electrical sector, analysing the consequences of different crisis scenarios and setting out a series of recommendations and policy asks to ensure that end-users take control of their energy security.
Join us on 2 December!
Special guests will contribute to our presentation, including Mr. Mark Harbers, former Dutch Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management, now President of our Dutch member association Techniek Nederland.
Join us on 2 December for the launch of the report and enjoy a networking evening with policymakers and stakeholders from the energy sector.
