What will the next EU leaders work on?
Re-industrialisation? Digitalisation? Energy transition? Supply chain resilience? A common thread to all these files, and many more, is: recruiting the skilled talents able to make Europe thrive in a complex world.
With 17 other European associations*, EuropeOn just reached out to the 27 governments and the European Commission to highlight the relevance of integrating further the labour agenda with the broader European agenda.
Policymakers must address systemic skills and labour shortages as a top priority for Europe’s transformation, so that the labour market is an enabler rather than an obstacle to realise the objectives set in Europe for the past 5 years. Furthermore, focusing on skills and workforce development is a significant opportunity to respond to European citizens and residents’ aspiration to secure long-term, fulfilling careers.
In this letter, we also highlight new skills provisions that both the Commission and Member States will have to implement by the end of this year, in compliance with the revised Energy Efficiency Directive.
