Next 18th June, SERCE (Les entreprises de la Transition énérgetique et numérique) organises the conference “Comment implanter en France des Data Centers durables?” (How can France implement green data centers?) moderated by Christophe Palée, at Jardin d’Acclimatation (Paris).
As digitalisation and the development of artificial intelligence (AI) continue to accelerate, the demand for robust, efficient data infrastructure is growing rapidly. During the AI Summit held in February, France made clear its ambition to attract investment for the establishment of data centers on its territory — particularly hyperscale centers tailored to the needs of AI.
The event marked a turning point, with major investment announcements and new measures introduced to simplify the setup of data centers and speed up their connection to the grid. While France already benefits from a dense and well-distributed network of data centers, these facilities must now be adapted to meet new expectations in terms of performance, security, and sustainability.
Several key questions arise when considering the development of sustainable data centers in France: What are the current expectations of data center operators and their clients? What unique advantages can France offer in this field? How crucial is the location when deciding where to build a data center? Under what conditions can a facility truly be considered “green”? And importantly, what solutions can SERCE member companies provide to retrofit and modernize existing installations, enhancing their energy efficiency and resilience?
These questions will be addressed during a dedicated conference featuring data center designers, operators, and SERCE member companies specialised in energy optimisation. The session will provide valuable insights into how the sector can rise to today’s challenges.
