From 10 to 12 September, the city of Herning (Denmark) became the stage for EuroSkills 2025, the largest skills competition in Europe. Almost 600 young people, from 32 countries demonstrated their talent and dedication across 38 different skills, from technology and construction to healthcare and the creative industries. The event welcomed nearly 100,000 visitors, including students, teachers, policymakers, and industry leaders, showing the strong interest in vocational careers and the future of Europe’s workforce.
Among the highlights for EuropeOn was the electrical installations competition, where young electricians proved their excellence. Looking at the results, the top five participants all come from countries where EuropeOn has representation. The gold medal went to John Eggebeen from the Netherlands, followed by Jana Gander from Switzerland with silver, and Casper Kærvang Pedersen from Denmark with bronze. Competitors from France and Iceland also achieved remarkable results, earning the Medallion of Excellence in fourth and fifth place.
But, what were these young electricians assessed in? The competition is based off of a project called The Test Project, divided in separately assessed modules to ensure a balanced representation of different abilities. Competitors are evaluated not only on technical expertise such as planning, design, installation, testing, and commissioning, but also on essential professional qualities like communication, problem solving, creativity, reporting, and self-management.
During the competition, young Europeans representing the future of the electrical sector have proven themselves and proudly represented the importance of the electrical installation sector in Europe. Congratulations to all the participants at Herning 2025, and specially the winners of the electrical installations competition! Their determination is yet another reminder of how vital technical careers are for Europe’s future.
