Installers’ Summit 2025: Reflecting on EuropeOn’s year and sparking the energy security conversation

November 17-19, EuropeOn members travelled to Brussels for this year’s Installers’ Summit. This was the occasion to celebrate EuropeOn’s General Assembly and discuss internal matters of the association. In this occasion, we also dived in the topic of energy security and the contribution of electrical contractors to energy independence and resilience.

The end of the Installers’ Summit also included the conference “Growing Renewable Skills in the Installation Sector”, co-hosted with GCP Europe and featuring the co-funded EU project RESkill4NetZero.

EuropeOn’s General Assembly: Looking Back, Setting Direction

After the opening dinner, the main day of the Summit started  with EuropeOn’s General Assembly. This was the moment for members to review the activities and milestones of the year, and set the objectives for the months ahead.

As part of the annual review, we presented the milestones of the association since the previous General assembly (autumn 2024 – autumn 2025). These include, among others, the celebration of EuropeOn’s 70th anniversary and the launch of our 2024 Sector Report, two meetings with Energy Commissioner Dan Jørgensen (with the Electrification Alliance and during EuropeOn’s Vice-President participation in EUSEW) or the in-person meeting with our American counterpart NECA, in Milan. Importantly, the Secretariat integrated one more team member to help us deliver more value to members.

Members also exchanged views on the situation of electrical contractors across Europe, highlighting shared challenges such as workforce shortages, the need for policy stability and, a topic EuropeOn is starting to explore more in depth, the role of electrical contractors in energy security.

Energy Security and Renewable Skills

A central element for EuropeOn members was the discussion with Ruud Kempener, Deputy Head of Unit for Energy Security and Safety at the European Commission (DG ENER). EuropeOn’s Secretary General, Julie Beaufils, shared with him the outline of our upcoming White Paper on Electrical Installations Resilience. This was the opportunity to discuss the relevance of considering electrical contractors as key actors in supporting Europe’s preparedness, ahead of the Commission’s review of the Energy Security Framework in early 2026.

The last day of the Summit featured the RESkill4NetZero conference “Growing Renewable Skills in the Installation Sector”, co-organised with GCP Europe, which brought our members together with EU policymakers, partners, and training experts to discuss how to meet Europe’s growing skills needs.

To round off the three days, participants enjoyed a guided visit of Brussels’ iconic Palais de Justice (Courts of Justice), learning more about its history, and endless renovation works initiated in the 1980s. Thanks to our members and to all the participants of the Installers’ Summit, for these exciting days full of relevant exchanges. We look forward to meeting again soon!
